‘Delta Presents’ Another Year of Honoring Young Male Achievers
The Little Rock Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., begins preparation for the 2012 class of Delta Presents honorees this month with an orientation at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 25.
Delta Presents is a recognition and scholarship program designed to highlight and encourage male, African-American high school seniors who have distinguished academic, community service and school involvement records during high school.
Orientation is 3 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Delta Outreach Foundation Building at 7621 West 40th Street in Little Rock.
“We are excited to continue honoring young black males who have made significant achievements at school and contributions to their community and church,” said Soror Angela Doyne, president of the Little Rock Alumnae Chapter.
African American male seniors (2011-2012 seniors) with a cumulative 2.75 grade point average or African American males who have distinguished community service and or school involvement record during high school are invited to attend.
By attending the orientation, students and their parents/guardians will receive information on Delta Presents criteria, processes and procedures. Students can then decide whether to apply to become a 2012 Delta Presents Honoree.
Screening Committee Chair Soror Fredricka Sharkey encourages sorors to enlist male students to attend the orientation and make application. “We want this year to be more successful than ever, so we need as many eligible students as possible to attend the orientation then apply for Delta Presents,” she said.
Sorors also are encouraged to join the Screening Committee. Sorors should direct questions to Soror Sharkey at fbsharkey@msn.com or 501-681-6278 or Soror Angela Moore at angiemoore79@gmail.com.
